Did you switch to cold brew for the summer already?
I love coffee, but it doesn’t go well with hot weather for me!
So I still enjoy coffee but learned how to make cold brew! I have adjusted to my environment!
The environment that we live in changes! As you might agree, adaptability and flexibility are the key. You might be thinking, “Everything around me is shifting so quickly—I don’t even know what I’m supposed to adapt to!”. I hear you! I feel your anxiety!
I still remember how shocked I was by the accuracy of the predictions in the book “Future Shock” when I read it in the early 2000s.
In his book – which was written in 70`s – Alwin Toffler was describing that the speed of change is determined by how much “newness” is introduced in a given amount of time. I was thinking, “WOW! The Speed of Change is insane nowadays”. As a fresh university student back then, I had no idea how fast things would accelerate in just 20 years.
He was also predicting that; by the early 21st century, the rate of change would become so intense that people would face psychological overload unless society developed tools to manage adaptation.
And I think we are there NOW!
We are all talking about how to adapt our organizations to an “AI Era”! BUT what about the adaptation of the “Human component” of this new environment? How are we doing with the tools Toffler said we’d need – for adaptation, resilience, and psychological well-being?
Here’s what helps me stay grounded:
- Leaning on my STRENGTHS!
- Trusting the RESILIENCE that I built over the years!
- Asking “How can I face this using what I already do well?”
This helps me to shift my mindset from “I’m not ready” to “I have tools I can bring to this.”
Strengths are a framework—they give you a stable anchor to step into the unknown.
So if the pace of change is overwhelming : Switch to a cold brew version of your strengths.
Cool. Refreshing. Familiar. Yours.
